The slide is a very simple technique to achieve and is basically the method of achieving glissando on a guitar. It is usually noted as shown below or as '2/14' and '14':

To carry out the slide shown above, you would have to sound the E string while holding down the 2nd fret. You would then slide your finger up to the 8th fret, still making sure that the string is in contact with the frets. This will sound like you are playing the consecutive frets between the two notes. The second slide is the exact opposite. Sound the 8th fret and slide down to the 2nd fret while maintaining contact between the string and the frets.
