Sound Quality

It's a solid state amp with 2 channels (the second is split into 2). A bit like a fender you have clean, overdrive and more overdrive. Being a solid state amp you're never going to get that valve sound really but with the valve emulator (Vibe) on this amp you can get fairly close. The clean sounds are versatile and sound fine, the first over drive channel sounds are just right for those gritty rhythm tones and drive 2 is great for those lead tones and using the scoop function you can set the sounds just as you want them. A very versatile amp that can do most things you want fairly well. I personally use drive channel one as my clean with the volume turned up and the gain turned down, this way you get more of that valve like tone. The reverb isn't bad either.

Build Quality

Built like a transit van, this thing will last you well. I gigged mine many times and it never let me down. I have however upgraded amp now to a full valve stack so this is just my back up.

Defects Upon Purchase

Nope none, and 3 years later still none.

Additional Comments

This is a great first serious amp (the level above Fender frontmans and the like). It can do most things you will ever need it to pretty well. However don't bother using the line out for recording it sounds like a bee in a jar and really doesn't represent the real sound of the amp. After getting my valve amp the difference in sound is extremely noticeable but for the price difference between this amp and a valve amp you can't really complain.
