Customer Rating: Summary: Cheap, low quality amp! Not impressive. Comment: Of course I realize this tiny battery powered (9V) amp will not give you the sound of more expensive, larger amps like tubed Marshalls or Hi-Watts, but this thing falls way short in several respects which make this an average to below-average value. Mainly, the volume control is not as linear as it should be. When attempting to turn this thing way down (for when you want to practice quietly) it turns the volume off completely at a level that is not as low as it should go. Secondly, the OD 'overdrive' position is a joke. The distorted tone (if that's what you want to call it) sounds muddy and as if you're playing into a cheap , low quality stereo with NO fuzz or distortion. You would at least expect a fuller, more natural and beefier sounding distortion tone emanating from this unit. The positives are that it does have a headphone jack, and external power supply jack, and a decent tone when playing into it without the OD switch on. Considering, most places charge about 30 bills for it, and that it is made in China (where products cost much less to manufacture), you would certainly expect a competent sounding distortion tone with the OD switched on. The bottom line is that this amp is OK for straight playing with no distortion effect, but horrendous sounding in OD mode. I added an inexpensive, twenty dollar Danelectro distortion effect in line, and now get ample distortion from this little amp! But of course now with the extra distortion effect in line, the setup is not too portable or compact, especially since I have to run another cable. I'd pass on this one.
