Summary: Truth in Advertising
Comment: It's true what they say about the AA50: "It looks and sounds like a much higher end instrument." I compared this model, which has laminated sides and back, to an in-shop Ramirez R2 and the AA50 sounded -- and felt -- better. The finish is superb, as good as the Ramirez. Details of the binding are perfect. The fingerboard and body edges are all clean and even sharp (no one leaned on the buffer during finishing). The tone is "all superlatives." (It's silly to use words to describe sound, but the notes were clear and distinct, the sounds was not muddy or washed out, the lows were low and the highs were high.) Good string individuation and sustain. It outplayed the Ramirez (+$650), a Cordoba 55RM (+$100), and a used German classical (+$200). I gather the uncompensated saddle allows owners to set up the guitar for the particular strings they will prefer. A fantastic buy all around. I bought the spruce, but the cedar is no doubt as fine.

Summary: Outstanding
Comment: I researched guitars all over the internet for about a month before I decided to order the spruce AA50. I'm glad I did. It actually arrived five days earlier than the expected shipping day which was a plus. As far as quality, it's outstanding. It was shipped in very sturdy material and didn't have a scratch on it. Even the first time I played it I was happy because of it's warm loud tone. FYI spruce guitars take about two years of solid playing before the spruce reaches it's full potential (this is because the resin in the spruce needs to be broken down by the sound waves that travel through it). However, this guitar was louder and sweeter sounding then my old spruce classical that is almost two years old. ONE THING! Replace the strings. I reccomend Pro Arte strings by Diadarrio. If you simply use the strings that come on it then the intonation will be off and certain chords will sound funky (the bad funky). Other than that this is a fine intrument at a suitable price.
