Customer Rating: Summary: Color changes in the sponge Comment: I have had my for awhile now. Refill is not too difficult. My instrument seems heaby, but the spongy material has a nasty blackness to it. New, it had a white to beige appearance, but not now. I've had friends suggest to bleach it ... etc., etc., but I'm afraid of chemical residue invading my wood and compromising my precious. I'm already looking around. Bought an Oasis, but I have some reservations about that too.
Customer Rating: Summary: Decent Humidifier. Comment: This thing works fine, as long as you are a patient person. It takes some time to fill the sponge with water from the syringe a few drops at a time. Also the fact that it is in between the strings makes the strings go out of tune a bit because its bending them. The sponge also becomes discolored. The good thing is that the humidity will reach the neck since it is not enclosed in the body like other humidifiers. All in all its not too bad.
Customer Rating: Summary: How dry I am? Comment: This is a great product, but much depends on how dry your instrument is and how dry it is where you keep your guitar. The nice thing about it is because it doesn't seal up the soundhole on your guitar it will humidify the rest of the instrument when kept in the case.
However, I've never been able to get my guitar over about 37% in the case, and the foam seems to last only so long even when using distilled water. Now, if it's really dry you can jam about as many of those rubber tube type humidifiers in there as you want and drastically raise the humidity in your case.
Still, kudos for Planet Waves for making a humidifier that doesn't drip and touches only the strings.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wow, whatta difference. Comment: Other soundhole humidifiers haven't held as much water and this one seems to to a better job... I think it is because it hangs on the strings and doesn't block the airflow like the hole-covering types...
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Easy to Use, Non-Messy Comment: This compact humidifier is easily filled with an included plastic syringe. If you don't over-fill, it will not drip, and you can simply place it in your case instead of the usual sponge.
