Customer Rating: Summary: Beautiful look and sound Comment: I went to Guitar Center looking to spend about 700 on something nice. I have looked at Ovations because of the shallow body and was planning on using live. I played a few Ovations and was bummed by the quality compared to others in the acoustic room. I started playing a Martin that was 700 and was like hey this isn't bad, but the guy in the room said only the front was made from real wood and the rest of the body was synthetic. He said 'if you like that Martin, try this". He handed me this Breedlove and playing it, I knew I had to have it. The tone was SO beautiful. It had amazing sustain and the body was allllll wood. It captured me immediately. I had heard of Breedlove's, but never really played one until this moment and it instantly blew all other guitars I have played out of the water. I wasn't planning on going in to spend more than 700, but this guitar seriously makes every penny worth it. Go and play one to believe yourself. Customer Rating: Summary: An excellent underrated piece of instrument Comment: I bought one of these back in April, 2007 and I have fallen in love with them ever since. I have been playing for over 30+ years and have owned other brand name guitars (electics and acoustics), and this one has been one favorite of mine ever since.
The body is tremendous. Its heavy, but the neck is flat and very playable. The balance of sound is amazing, especially for the price. The built-in Fishman 4T tuner is a godsend, and the hard shell case that came with it is first class. There are no words to describe the feeling that I get everytime I strum and I hear either high or low notes reverberate with so much clarity - no muddiness like the Martins, no over-brightness like the Taylors, and certainly not cheap like the Yamahas.
This guitar is a keeper with its beautiful abalone inlays. The proprietary JLD truss under the bridge creates that balanced sound even with the thin upper wood. The Grover tuners are easy and mine does not require a whole of lot of tuning. Make sure to get the best humidifier to protect this amazing guitar. Try one at any of the big name guitar stores (GC?) and you'll know what I'm talking about. I was going to get a Martin or a Taylor and this baby blew them all away.
