Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Designed for the Stock Fender Strat Tremelo Comment: These fit, wear well, and the nickel vice stainless steel GREATLY reduces the wear and tear on stock bridge components and frets. This is due to the nickel being a softer metal than the fret wire and bridge saddles. Stainless steel, or steel actually acts as a file would and grooves the frets and bridge saddles. The downside to that type of wear is that the frets need replacment (somewhat costly) and the bridge saddles could develop burrs which would promote string breakage. There are remedies for the bridge saddles (i.e. graphite replacments) which could run into a $100 (U.S.), but fret jobs are fret jobs and they can run into a few hundred dollars (U.S.). I have also read allocades from renowned luthiers who lauded nickel over steel in both sound quality and wear. Regular guitar usage requires string changes at least monthly. I change my strings out every 2 to 3 weeks, and I play out 3 to 4 times weekly alternating guitars. With that schedule I seldom notice and reduction of tone. However, if they somehow stay on longer than a couple of months, I have notices a degradation in tone quality. They (like ALL other strings) lose tension and start to sag on response to picking. The 3150 stings sound great and are a bargin... Plus, the mass at the trem end is far greater than the stock ball design found on all other electric guitar strings. More mass translates to better tone. You can't really use the bullet concept on other trems (unless they are Fender inspired), so other "tricks" to increase mass are employed, which are sometimes painful exercises (which takes time). I use the 3150L (lights) as my guitar came from the factory with the nut cut for these particular strings and string gauge. Try 'em, you'll like 'em. More Reviews
