Comment: For all the reviews that take issue with this series for one small issue or the other you miss the point.
A book is written for the masses. No author can take into account that you were born without a pinkie finger or that you don't have the time to go through the whole book slowly.
This series is for the SERIOUS guitar student who wants to understand the guitar in a way that almost no other author does. It is organized and well thought out and as I said in my first review "You must get the DVD with the books" There are pieces in the book which are complex and difficult to explain in written form. For example: "A mode can be the same scale pattern as the G maj scale but it starts and ends on a target note." Until you hear that scale, starting from that note, played against a backing progression, it is very very difficult to understand. Once you hear it it is very simple. Since you can't hear a book, the DVD is a must.
Buy the whole set and expect to take at least a year to grasp it all. Then expect to be a not only a good guitarist but a good musician as well. And if you have some special need, do yourself a favor and don't buy books. Find a really good guitar teacher and get them to work with you on alternate playing methods. Don't give up either. You may be a great musician someday but don't expect a book produced for the masses to be able to help you unless it is specifically written for you or is the size of War and Peace.

Summary: Get CAGED with your Guitar!
Comment: I already have the book and I bought the video because I find it easier to watch and learn. Having played Guitar for over 30 years, I must say that the video really simplified it for me. I often find that however well a book may be written, you learn better - and FASTER - when someone actually DEMONSTRATES the lessons. This makes it real... and that's what this DVD did for me. I would recommend it highly to everyone, but particularly to those of you who find it tedious to go through a book. It is a must if you have a high level of skill.

Comment: I highly recommend Fretboard Logic SE and DVD to anyone who wants to master the guitar. It is very well written and the DVD compliments the book very well. It's worth the investment. After reading this book I was able to understand all the other books on guitar that I ever bought that didn't offer musch because they didn't lead me to understanding the guitar.

Comment: I've been playing guitar for around eighteen years. I like to keep learning. I havn't found a better method than Fretboard Logic. I have worked through the materials in the books. I wondered what would be a good method to review the materials in the books and also make sure I didn't miss anything. I think the answer is in this DVD. Not a replacement for the books, but an excellent addition. I don't care the field of study, review always leads to more knowledge. Yes I've gotten videos (a few anyways) of the greats. They are fun and you can even pick up a few ideas. It's nice to sit around with your favorite players, but this system has enabled me to play. If I was a beginner, I couldn't imagine not wanting this DVD. It's like having the teacher along with the books. I like DVD movies a lot better than I thought I would, but for me this is what DVDs were made for. --- Edit 12/25/03 Amazing power that Amazon.com gives to the individual. Not content to slander Bill Edwards, the above reviewer slanders me as well. Check out the reviews on the book.
