Victor Wooten is recognized as one of the world's greatest electric bassists. Considered by many to be the most influential bassist since Jaco Pastorius, Victor is best known for his work with the Grammy-winning supergroup Béla Fleck & The Flecktones. Along with his acclaimed solo recordings, Victor has performed with artists like Branford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Bruce Hornsby, Bootsy Collins, Chick Corea, Dave Matthews, Prince, Will Lee, T.M. Stevens, Gov t Mule, Susan Tedeschi, Steve Bailey, Oteil Burbridge, Scott Henderson and Steve Smith. In this DVD, Victor breaks down each of the techniques he employs to create his incredible style. Victor covers slapping, tapping, grooving and improvising in detail. Segments include live performances with a band; interviews dealing with technique, influences, and motivation; and a segment on equipment. Special Features include: Candid video footage from Victor s archives Victor and Steve Bailey jamming A preview from the Jaco Pastorius Modern Electric Bass DVD

Customer Rating: Summary: Absolute "Shocker" Comment: Yes indeed, an absolute shocker. I expected a lot from this DVD. A great disappointment. The playing is great but hardly any lessons in it. I really expected a lot but pardon me for my expression, "I regret buying this DVD."
Customer Rating: Summary: It's not what the picture shows Comment: Very dissapointed with this product, it says 2007 and the picture shows Victor Wooten as he is today, but the dvd is a really old kind of 80's dvd, where he has a moustache and funny colours. I really thought this was a new dvd, so when i figured out what it was i was very dissapointed and mad. They sell it as gold, i could have buy it here in mexico for 2 bucks.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Live Footage, bad lesson Comment: I've bought quite a few videos of bass tutorials and have been playing for a few years. I'm an active musician as well, and I found very little redeeming about this video. The playing is fantastic, don't get me wrong, he's a modern legend. However, his lessons are really far too short. The double thumb technique is never articulated at an angle from which the viewer can easily learn it, and I've turned to watching the Montreal Bass Day '98 to try and get a better view of it. He doesn't offer very much in the way of playing technique or soloing, which completely irritated me given the title. I wish I could have previewed this video before I watched it, because to me it wasn't worth the thirty dollars for a live concert DVD.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great but not exactly what I expected Comment: Its definately a great dvd, but I was expecting it to contain recorded footage that was mostly new. The actual dvd is old (but dont get me wrong, he still rocks out) but has some new footage of him playing a few concerts. Its a good buy for motivation, and transcription ideas, if your an advanced player. And if your a beginner, the lessons will definately help.
